AfricArXiv
Project Description
AfricArXiv is a digital archive and open access repository for African research, providing a platform for scholars across the continent to share their findings with the global academic community. It aims to increase the visibility of African research, promote collaboration, and foster a culture of open science. Through AfricArXiv, researchers can deposit their manuscripts, preprints, datasets, and other research outputs, making them accessible to the global research community. By integrating with global initiatives like Open Science and providing repository mirroring and migration services, AfricArXiv helps bridge the gap between African researchers and the world.
My Role and Activities Involved
At AfricArXiv, my role has been multifaceted, with responsibilities in:
- Service Development: Contributing to the growth and evolution of AfricArXiv’s offerings, including the development of digital repository services for universities and institutions that may not have existing repositories.
- Client Outreach and Acquisition: Engaging with universities, research institutions, journals and individual researchers to raise awareness of the platform’s services and attract new users.
- Community Engagement: Building and maintaining relationships within the academic community to foster collaboration and participation in AfricArXiv, ensuring a growing and active network of users.
Project Impact
AfricArXiv has played a crucial role in democratizing access to African research, enhancing the visibility of African scholars, and fostering greater inclusion in the global research dialogue. By providing an open access platform, AfricArXiv has enabled African researchers to share their work more widely, leading to increased collaboration and innovation in critical areas such as health, agriculture, and education. The platform continues to break down barriers to knowledge sharing, ultimately contributing to the continent’s research development and global influence.
